As part of the popular Museums at Night Festival we are offering our visitors a unique opportunity to experience the house at its most peaceful. Your guide will lead you through the house on a specially devised route, taking in many private areas of the house. The tour will end with a champagne reception on the 4th floor balcony.

In support of their Mercury nominated album Diamond Mine, King Creosote and Jon Hopkins play Mount Stuart as part of a short tour of the Argyll Islands. King Creosote is the leading light in Fife’s Fence Collective and a real legend in the Scottish Indie music scene, while Jon Hopkins is best known for his work with Coldplay on their last 2 albums.

Celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee at Mount Stuart with a day packed full of regal activities from Afternoon Teas to Crown decorating. To mark this important and historic moment in The Queen’s reign the aim is to light 2,012 beacons – the length and breadth of the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, the Commonwealth and other countries around the world. We will end the day of festivities with our very own Mount Stuart Bonfire and become part of history.

However, this is no ordinary party as there is a sinister character lurking somewhere within the House. Your evening begins with a drinks reception to toast the new engaged couple; you will then be invited through to the stunning Marble Hall for a 3 course feast. As you dine with a variety of characters including the happy couple themselves you will attempt to uncover the culprit of the crime. An unforgettable night in a truly atmospheric setting

Our gardening experts will be on hand to answer visitors’ questions about vegetable and fruit cultivation.

Experience the rich History of ‘uisge beatha’ the water of life, in the stunning surroundings of Mount Stuart. Our whisky expert, Raymond Brown from Journey with Taste, will take you on an adventure through some of the most unique distilleries in Scotland allowing you to sample some of the finest malts available. The main focus is on the participant’s enjoyment; however, the concept is taking a virtual ‘journey’ to unique and interesting distilleries. Each distillery is brought to life with vision, music, and a brief resume of their history and special features followed by the tasting of the malts of those distilleries.

As you make your way through secret staircases and hidden entrances the ancient stories of Mount Stuart and its ghosts will be revealed. There are few more atmospheric Houses on a dark Halloween night where doors creak, the wind whistles through vast stone walls and every corner reveals another secret!

Celebrate the festive season in traditional style at Mount Stuart’s Christmas Fair. The food and craft market will take place in the Marble Hall with local producers offering a fantastic range of gifts for Christmas.
